Privacy Policy

Effective 2026. Plain-English summary first, full details below.

Summary

  • I collect what's needed to care for your pets and home.
  • Your info is never sold, shared, or rented.
  • You can ask me to delete it any time.
  • Booking emails are sent via standard email providers (Gmail).

What I collect

  • Booking details — your name, email, phone, pets' names and species, dates, addresses. Anything you share in the booking form or in follow-up emails.
  • Pet profiles — names, species, breed, weight, medications, vet contact, behavioral notes. Used only for care.
  • Home access info — gate codes, alarm codes, key location. Stored in a password manager with restricted access.
  • Basic analytics — this site does not run third-party analytics. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no cookies for tracking. Server logs (IP, user agent, timestamp) are kept for 14 days for spam/abuse prevention, then deleted.

What I don't collect

  • Payment information (payment happens over Venmo / Zelle / cash / check — entirely outside this site).
  • Location data beyond what you type in the booking form.
  • Anything from your browser other than what's needed to load the page.

Who I share it with

Only the people who need it to do the job — and that's usually just me. If I'm hospitalized and unable to care for your pets, another trusted sitter I work with will step in, and they get only what's needed (emergency contact, vet, access info). I'll tell you before that happens if I can.

If you ask me to take your pet to your vet while you're away, I'll share what's needed with the vet's office at that moment. That's it. There's no advertising, no list rentals, no selling of any kind.

How long I keep it

  • Active clients — booking history, contact info, pet profiles: kept for the duration of our working relationship plus 2 years after the last booking.
  • Inactive clients — emailed once per year with an "are you still there?" check-in; if no reply within 60 days, contact info is deleted.
  • Server logs — 14 days, automated delete.
  • Backups — encrypted, kept for 90 days on a separate machine, then rotated out.

You can ask me to delete your information at any time. Email [email protected] with "delete my info" in the subject and it'll be done within a week. I'll keep a one-line note that the request happened (without any of your data) so I know not to re-add you from an old backup.

Your rights

  • Ask what I have on you — I'll send a summary.
  • Ask me to fix it.
  • Ask me to delete it.
  • Ask me to stop emailing you about bookings (other than the reply to a booking you've placed).

I'm a one-person business in North Carolina. If you have a privacy complaint you can't resolve with me directly, the NC Attorney General's office is the relevant authority.

Changes

If I change this policy in a meaningful way, I'll email active clients with the diff. Cosmetic changes (typos, formatting) won't trigger a notification.
